WTM — A Journey !!

This blog is a small summary of my journey to WTM — Women Tech Makers Ambassador. Let’s start from the very beginning for all who are reading “WTM” for the first time 🫣

So, what is WTM program ?? 🤔

Google thrives by their motto “Don’t be evil” and they believe in giving back to society scaled many more times. WTM is one such program to help out all women in technology. This program provides visibility, community, and resources for women in technology. Isn’t it great, if you have have courage to fly, Google is out there to give you wings 👼🏻

So this is a brief about about WTM program, now let’s take a step ahead.

There are two tracks in this program and you need to choose which road you want to take.

1. Become a member

First track is to become a member in this program. As a member of this program you can access to curated resources and events, as well as information and tools from Google, our partners, and the global tech ecosystem. It’s more about empowering women in their careers.

2. Become an ambassador

Second track is to become an ambassador in this program. This is the role with lot of responsibilities. Being an ambassador is a gift, you will be uplifting the people to achieve a more equitable and inclusive technological future.

As a ambassador, you will be working hard to create an environment where all women can thrive in tech. You need to empower local tech communities through events, speaking engagements, mentorship and more. Not only that you will have constant support from Google and you can create impact for hundreds of thousands of people around the world each year.

How to apply for WTM ambassador ??

The application opens twice a year. It opens around February and October. You can become a member to get notified when the application launches.

How to prepare WTM ambassador application ??

The application majorly focuses on your motivation and gesture to be part of this journey.

So prepare all metadata for the application, describing who you are as a person, what you do and what you are passionate about actually in life. Try to keep it as real as possible, so that person reading your application can actually connect with you as a person.

Try to write the reasons very clearly why are you interested in becoming a women techmakers ambassador. Figure out what will be your journey when you become one.

Once you have this, collect all your thoughts on women currently in tech world, what changes could be beneficial, how could you contribute in it.

Once you have all things ready and application window is open, just go for it and apply without any single thought.
